Rafael Salazar is an open innovation expert and entrepreneurship strategist for startups and corporations. He has broad experience in launching new ventures and bringing ideas to reality, with several failures and successful startups in his back. Rafael is currently focused on creating new business opportunities in Latin-America and Europe, with emphasis on fintech and microcredits platforms. He has worked as innovation advisor for big corporations and consulting firms, combining his strategy and management background with creativity and out-of-the-box ideas to foster high-impact projects. With more than 15 years of experience, Rafael currently combines his role as CEO of Gelt Giro, a money transfer startup, with an advisory role in Microwd, a social entrepreneurship initiative to give microcredits to women in Latin-America. Rafael is also professor and mentor for several business schools in Europe and LatAm, like IE, Deusto and ESADE, and senior leader for the TED community in Spain, crafting events around impact networking and ideas worth spreading. With a strong background in engineering and innovation, he is currently doing an Executive MBA from Columbia and London Business School, with a major in behavioral economy and data analytics to bring disruptive business models in the fintech industry in Latin-America.
